About Brenda Marie Osbey
Brenda Marie Osbey is an acclaimed poet and essayist, known for her works in English and French. Her publications include 1967, All Souls: Essential Poems, and All Saints: New and Selected Poems, which won the 1998 American Book Award. Her writing has appeared in numerous journals and anthologies, and she has edited several works, including Gabriel Okara: Collected Poems. Osbey’s research focuses on the history of Faubourg Tremé in New Orleans, and she has received fellowships from prestigious institutions such as the MacDowell Colony and Harvard University’s Bunting Institute. A former Louisiana Poet Laureate, she has also been a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Brown University and was the 2021-22 Hodson Trust-John Carter Brown Library Fellow.
